: Walnut oil, because of its slow drying properties , makes walnut and other darker woods look particularly handsome. The longer "wet" period really brings out the variations in color and grain. Experienced woodworkers have often mistaken the walnut in my serving boards for rosewood when I use walnut oil. The oil takes a good three to four weeks to really dry. Though it is water repellent, it will water spot.
